The senior representatives of the Astana guarantor states met with UN Secretary General's Special Envoy for Syria in Geneva on 10-11 September 2018.

At the meeting, the composition and the rules of procedure of the Constitutional Committee, which constitutes an important step in efforts for finding a political solution to the Syrian conflict, were discussed.

In this context, the principle agreementon the lists proposed respectively by the regime and the opposition was reaffirmed, and consultations were held on the composition of the third component, which represents the civil society.

The process will be continued through technical-level meetings among the Astana guarantors.
